The main reason organisations have quality standards is to ensure that they –meet or exceed customer requirements, this in turn help retain customers and help make people buy their products or use their services. Standards provide benchmarks for performance.
A benchmark is “a standard or point of reference against which things may be compared” within Real Skills we use benchmarks on a monthly basis they are mainly used to see whether we are meeting targets in sales. We are set a baseline figure I must meet on a monthly basis, I am given a target that I must meet which is then recorded and compared to past months and years to see trends within the organisation, this then can help prompt promotions and advertisements during slower months. I personally have to undertake reviews with my line manger on bi-annually but I must also review and observe my training team periodically and document what I watch to comply with Achilles and NSAR (Our awarding bodies for Rail) This information is then reviewed by senior management and plans are put in place to help improve the trainers skills if he is not meeting the benchmarks set for them.

We currently have a procedure in place that allows an individual to write up a change they feel is necessary within the organisation this in turn can be given to the line manager or directly to the directors, once this has been passed on it will be brought up during the next board meeting. As Real Skills is a fairly small company we can quite comfortably change with the times or if a new idea is proposed we can make the changes quickly without too much of an impact on the
