In the video, "Why Night Light Is Messing Up Your Sleep" by a youtuber named Bite Size Psych, he explains if you minimize the exposure light at night it helps you sleep more thoroughly. If you are hit by the blue wave length light it hits your melatonin and makes you feel more awake. Filtering out the blue light may help you regulate your sleeping habits. They're free apps that you may download to your electronic devices and it actually assists what you're looking for. The example he gave for an app was Flux, it tracks your sleeping hours and it reminds you go to bed when you need to.
