Current statistics reveals that more women engage themselves in care work than men. This is the exact opposite if what many people expect in such a way that the role of women restricts them to household chores and general household responsibilities. To break away from these traditions, most women are looking for employment opportunities due to a number of factors. There are many reasons that support their undertakings. However, it is worth to note that a large percentage of the women engage themselves in care work or opportunities that relate to care-giving. This paper examines some of the reasons why there are more women in the care-giving field than men.
Firstly, many people perceive the issue of wages and income to be a major contributing factor to the large number of women in care work and related fields. This comes about as a result of inequalities in income and the strive for financial independence. Inequalities arise from more workers, especially men joining high productivity sectors of the economy due to their competitive advantage and knowledge in those sectors.
