To increase profits and students eating on campus, we propose that meals have an allotment of “money” designated for each meal, like the university has done in the past. The students felt the meals were more affordable and that they were getting their money’s worth.
This allotment would be a certain amount that each student could spend on a meal. The students will be able to pick what they want and use their flex for extra items they may want. This way the students are getting what they want rather than being forced to pick one food item from each column.
Benefits and Costs
Changing the meal plan will benefit everyone. The results show 92 percent of the students that took part in the survey believe the food cost was too high. If a student forgets an item or does not want something from the list instead of getting penalized for not wanting that food, they can get what they want and pay for the rest in flex dollars. This would also entice more students to purchase a meal plan in the first place and there would be less hold up with cash and credit cards. The overall benefit for switching the meal plan would be that students feel that they are getting the most for their money. Students are already paying a lot for school so not getting the food they want at a reasonable price affects the overall feel of their college
