DC on the other hand, is all about the depressing highlights of the protagonist’s life, an example of this would be in the beginning of Batman VS Superman where it shows Batman's parents dying in slow motion and Superman's adopted father dying. Another thing that Marvel does is giving more backstory and insight into the antagonists and villains of their movies. An example of this would be Hela in the new Thor movie because Hela was trapped for a millenia and wants revenge for trapping her. She was imprisoned after her behavior was reinforced by her father, and while she goes about it in a way that most of us wouldn’t her reasons are very human and much easier to relate to. Another area where Marvel and DC usually differ is the nature of their villains. If you thought DC’s heroes were depressing their villains are absolutely dismal and morbid whereas Marvels are, like their heroes, much easier to understand. DC’s villains are usually totally insane like the Joker and either nearly indestructible or a really freaky thing like. Marvels villains are usually kinda cool like
