It brings everyone together. From students in your band to students from all over, marching band students have this natural understanding of each other because of the similar experiences we all share. We all know how many hours are put in to rehearsing and memorizing music, drill, and marching technique. As bands are transitioning in competitions, it is common for us to exchange a “good luck” or a “great job” because we all know the pressure we are under and the hard work we put in to be able to perform. Camaraderie becomes necessary in life when you need to form relationships. When you ask a former marching band student what they took from marching band, many will say the memories they made being with friends and the experience they got out of it. This is a very important thing to take from this activity. However many will also talk about how marching band taught more than how to march or how to become a better musician. It taught values and life skills such as time management, discipline, and camaraderie. Though, it is not limited to these three and expands so much further. Marching band has been the most important activity that I have participated
