Why Macbeth Fails to Maintain His Power William Shakespeare often creates a protagonist that falls from the highest positions in society, such as a king. He also will add a tragic flaw to these protagonists which explain why one would fail to manage their power. One example from one of William Shakespeare’s plays is Macbeth, and how one man fails to sustain a high position in society. In the play, Macbeth, the main character, Macbeth; a war hero, encounters three witches called The Weird Sisters. The Weird Sisters then tell Macbeth that he will become Thane of Cawdor. The Witches predictions were true, but Macbeth wants more, so he murders his way to kingship. The witches warn him with three prophecies that become true, and Macbeth's reign of terror ends. The character of Macbeth can closely relate to how Shakespeare sets up his protagonists. Macbeth fails to remain king and falls out of power. William Shakespeare’s character, Macbeth, can be closely related to leaders that the human race have now or in the past, such as Adolf Hitler. Hitler himself had also fallen from a high position in society; Dictator, just like Macbeth. Adolf had fallen due to some of his own flaws, which Macbeth had happen to him also. The play, Macbeth, is also a great example of what not to do when one becomes a leader. One example of what not to do is to cheat to get power, which is what Macbeth does to get his high power, and his way of cheating is murder. Another example is to always be aware of possible outcomes because when Macbeth becomes over-confident about his power, he ends up losing his position as king and his life. Overall, William Shakespeare has helped create our future leaders become more knowledgeable and
