Why Kundalini is so cherished Dharmic concepts are found throughout Asian religions and cultures. It's concepts include rituals, rites of passage, law and justice and even yoga. There are different forms of yoga that have been created over the course of hundreds of years in this region, but only Kundalini yoga exemplifies these concepts to a higher level. It "aims to develop spiritual awareness by freeing the serpent power (Kundalini) that is coiled in the base of the spine and drawing it upward through the seven chakras." (yoga journal). Kundalini yoga embodies all that is found in Dharmic notions and perceptions. A blend of spiritual and physical practices are when the Kundalini serpent is awakened and spiritual enlightenment is achieved. Kundalini seeks to build physical vitality and increase consciousness. Painted with "guache" a opaque type of watercolor paint, Sakti sits atop a pillow in a fire altar, a striking mental picture. To her right sits the Kundalini serpent. Sakti sitting on fire represents her power and ability and the serpent itself represents the power that is Kundalini. Most people fear snakes and this draws an experience similar to adrenaline, to fight or flight. Do you approach your issues head on and handle them or run away unaffectedly? The two figures in the painting are two dimensional most likely due to the constraints of watercolor paintings. As aforementioned fire is associated with the third chakra in the stomach. This is where the serpent lies and this explains why the snake is still coiled. It is yet to be awakened and uncoiled. The setting appears to be in a room and would explain why the background is beige. It's author and current location are unknown.
