Why Kids Shouldn T Take Homework

Improved Essays
To me, homework is many hours of my time wasted on relearning the stuff we did in class. Students come home every day with tons of books in their backpacks. Schools shouldn’t give out homework anymore. Children get less sleep and their social life deteriorates. Homework only makes a small impact on their performance. Kids tend to score lower on standardized tests. Obviously, schools shouldn’t give homeworks because their health decreases, it barely makes an impact, and it actually makes the juveniles score lower standard tests.

To begin, schools shouldn’t give out homework because the students health decreases. According to http://neatoday.org/2014/05/13/should-schools-be-done-with-homework/, it states, “In April, Denise Pope, a researcher at Stanford University, found that too much homework can negatively affect kids by increasing stress and sleep deprivation and generally leaving less time for family, friends, and activities.” This leads to having no time for hanging with friends and family. Also, they will get less sleep. Consequently, if they have less sleep, they won’t have much energy to do their other homework the next day. The outcome of this is poor grades and more stress. Stress and sleep deprivation could lead to depression. As you can

As stated in http://motto.time.com/4740297/homework-should-be-banned-from-schools/ , OECD claims, “In a study of high schoolers conducted by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), researchers concluded that “after around four hours of homework per week, the additional time invested in homework has a negligible impact on performance.” This means that all the hard work students do every night barely makes an impact on their grade. This shows that even though people say that homework will raise your grade up, it really doesn’t. Even if it does, buy how much? Unquestionably, homework barely helps your

First of all, homework causes stress on students. We may as well just spend all day at school if we are having school at home anyways. Students should go to school, work on “school” work, then come home and not do “school” work at home. This would increase the productivity and attitudes of students. I, for one, would be in a much better mood concerning school if I knew that I didn’t have to look forward to coming home to more school work.…

It should neither be fully abolished or given to students in preposterous amounts. Although some say that homework is something that does no good for students, it actually has many benefits to students such as it has students receive better grades, learn what responsibility is, and figuring out how to balance homework with free time. All of these skills are not something that will help them in school, but in the rest of their lives. With that in mind, homework is not something that should be banned or fully embraced. Homework should be something that is balanced and only used as a tool to help students gain proficiency in a subject, not as busy work.…

If kids didn’t have to worry about getting certain assignments done for the next day, I do agree with Darter that, kids would have more time to be kids. In her article Darter refers to a study done at Duke University. The study showed that “all it does is negatively impact kids’ attitudes towards school, learning, and their parents(the homework enforcers).” This research shows, not proves, that homework does have an effect on studies ability to do well in…

The biggest known reasons for homework is false. Homework only improves grades on tests or quizes in the last 3 years of school 10,11,12. Also the argument that it educates responsibility is a false argument, if a student is struggling with a subject or a part of class, they should go discuss to the teacher and inquire for special help if they need it. It is not their responsibility for being forced into practicing things they are bad at to get better, if you want true improvement go after it yourself not expect others to do it for you. Also, studies show that only 5% of students actually get enough sleep because of over assigned homework and stress about homework.…

The debate about if schools should or shouldn’t have homework is still occurring in many schools today, well i think that schools should still have homework and here are some reasons why. Kids need academic success for good jobs, and good education in the future. Kids also benefit from learning responsibility from homework. This is also the time where parents can get involved in the child’s school work. One reason I think that schools should have homework is that kids need to have academic success.…

Schools should not allow students to do school work after school or at home. It just stresses them out more and we already have around eight hours of school. I think that is enough. Homework just makes them not want to go to school anymore or enjoy it. Studies have shown that students learn more at school, where there are not a lot of distractions, than at home, where there are a lot of distractions.…

Time that can be better spent is with family and having fun participating in extracurricular activities. Eliminating homework allows students the reward of free time and the invaluable time spent with family. Homework creates unnecessary stress and strain for parents and students alike. There are so many reasons people are pro homework. People say “it helps them become smarter or helps them on test,” But there is a lack of evidence where it actually supports their claims, that it helps students at all especially at such a young age. with Alfie Khon “The positive effects of homework are largely mythical.”(Khon). It also seems that homework is being forced onto younger students more often than the older ones. I remember getting tons of homework in Elementary school, and not having the time to play outside, the stress, and my parents struggling to help me on problems I didn’t know.…

With all of the stress that is already coming from school, homework only emphasizes that. There should be less homework because it takes up students time, causes a lot of stress, and causes many personal and social problems. A primary reason that students have less free time is that teachers assign an excessive amount of homework. Some students have said “Homework is all I have time for; there’s never…

There are various effective arguments I would make to support students having homework by their teachers. The first argument I would make is that homework helps students to better retain the lessons they’ve learned during the school day. Students need a lot of exercises to do to retain what they learn everyday in school. Since class time isn’t enough to provide a lot of exercises on one subject, homework is the best way to exercise what’s been learned in class. If no homework is given to students on a subject that’s been discussed in class, it’s more likely for them to forget the subject the next day.…

All of those negative effects then come into place, as teachers are assigning exorbitant amounts. If homework is moderated and given to an appropriate extent, the positive effects outlined above can take place. Homework should definitely not be banned, as it does more good than bad. It helps children and teenagers to develop essential skills that they will surely need as they enter adulthood. Education is extremely important, as well, and it is something that can be accomplished to a higher degree with the help of daily learning activities.…
