Why Kids Should Have No Homework

Decent Essays
I believe kids should have no homework. I believe kids should have no homework because they already have 7hrs of school. I mean why should kids have homework ( kids brains are not fully developed ) when adults work the same hours as kids go to schools and and they come home exhausted and don't have to do anything. Another reason why kids should not have homework is kids need sun and exercise instead of being cooped up inside doing homework; If this does not happen kids could get really ill. Which leads us to our next point kids brains are still growing which means that by the time they get done with homework they will usually forget by the next day. Kids also need time with their families instead of working on homework:; if this does not happen

First of all, homework causes stress on students. We may as well just spend all day at school if we are having school at home anyways. Students should go to school, work on “school” work, then come home and not do “school” work at home. This would increase the productivity and attitudes of students. I, for one, would be in a much better mood concerning school if I knew that I didn’t have to look forward to coming home to more school work.…

It should neither be fully abolished or given to students in preposterous amounts. Although some say that homework is something that does no good for students, it actually has many benefits to students such as it has students receive better grades, learn what responsibility is, and figuring out how to balance homework with free time. All of these skills are not something that will help them in school, but in the rest of their lives. With that in mind, homework is not something that should be banned or fully embraced. Homework should be something that is balanced and only used as a tool to help students gain proficiency in a subject, not as busy work.…

If kids didn’t have to worry about getting certain assignments done for the next day, I do agree with Darter that, kids would have more time to be kids. In her article Darter refers to a study done at Duke University. The study showed that “all it does is negatively impact kids’ attitudes towards school, learning, and their parents(the homework enforcers).” This research shows, not proves, that homework does have an effect on studies ability to do well in…

For my introduction, Has anyone ever taken any kind of paperwork or a project to work to get done or taken this to their home to get done? This is a topic about homework about how this form of paperwork should be outlawed in states or even countries. For my claim I think that homework should not be given by teachers by any kind of any shape or form and that homework should be banned from all states. The reason for this outlawing of homework is this first reason, First off the homework given to an individual is a much of a waste and It takes too much of an individual to get done but once this is done the grade falls on them because of that work that is given but that is if the teacher wasn’t explaining more of this assignment. One of these evidences prove that homework is a waste, If younger students need a chance to play outside and have a little free time, the reality is that older students are busy with work or with extracurricular activities that need time more than paperwork.…

As you can see I'm not a huge fan on the idea of “homework” and I really do believe it should be changed because if you think about it it’s basically child abuse, kids having to stop doing their sports outside of school, increasing kids stress level, turning children to antisocial monsters. I think it’s cruel and should be changed. Are you happy watching your child stress over their time wasting on homework? Are you proud that you hardly socialize with your child because they are covered with work to complete?I strongly believe that there should be no more than two homework for a child to complete because most kids do sports or an activity of some sort after school and have no time to do their homework in time and they should have time to concentrate on their sports.…

In order to assess the articles ability to effectively convey that homework is an essential element of children’s success in education, one must look at the arguments provided. Due to the thoroughly explaining the aspects of the argument that are for homework and explaining the aspects of the arguments that are anti-homework, this article Teacher’s Defense of Homework effectively argues why homework is essential to our education system. Andrea Townsend’s article, Teacher’s Defense of Homework, describes the issue of homework from the perspective of a teacher. The author describes not only the relationship between homework and excelling in class, but also the relationship between homework and being properly prepared for adulthood and the challenges that lie in the future. Homework “helps to supplement the notes” taken in class.…

During the summer we learn many important skills not taught in school. In the article “What Homework Can’t Do”, written by the author Nancy Kalish in 2009, she writes “It steals time away from other important aspects of learning such as play, which helps kids master social skills and teamwork. In addition, writing book reports means kids spend fewer hours being physically active, which is essential for good health and weight control, not to mention proper brain development”. Here, she addresses at a very important point that kids have other skills to learn that are not taught in school and that physical activity is necessary and would not be achieved if their time is occupied by homework. Some may believe during the summer, students lose all skills and do not believe they benefit from the break but what they do not seem to understand is that some students spend all summer at camp or working or traveling where they are gaining amazing experiences and skills that are not taught in school.…

Homework is not beneficial and it should be banned for students Kindergarten thru 8th…

There are so many reasons people are pro homework. People say “it helps them become smarter or helps them on test,” But there is a lack of evidence where it actually supports their claims, that it helps students at all especially at such a young age. with Alfie Khon “The positive effects of homework are largely mythical.”(Khon). It also seems that homework is being forced onto younger students more often than the older ones. I remember getting tons of homework in Elementary school, and not having the time to play outside, the stress, and my parents struggling to help me on problems I didn’t know.…

With all of the stress that is already coming from school, homework only emphasizes that. There should be less homework because it takes up students time, causes a lot of stress, and causes many personal and social problems. A primary reason that students have less free time is that teachers assign an excessive amount of homework. Some students have said “Homework is all I have time for; there’s never…

There are various effective arguments I would make to support students having homework by their teachers. The first argument I would make is that homework helps students to better retain the lessons they’ve learned during the school day. Students need a lot of exercises to do to retain what they learn everyday in school. Since class time isn’t enough to provide a lot of exercises on one subject, homework is the best way to exercise what’s been learned in class. If no homework is given to students on a subject that’s been discussed in class, it’s more likely for them to forget the subject the next day.…

Homework has been linked to achieving better results and better grades, so why are some schools banning it? Studies have shown the positive and negative effects of homework, and with a moderate amount, the positive effects outweigh the negative ones. Homework should not be banned, as it teaches discipline and time management skills, as well as supplements and accelerates learning. It is also needed in order to meet international education standards. Homework is important for numerous reasons, one of which being that it helps teach time management skills and discipline, especially in young children.…
