Why Kids Get Payed

Imagine if for every good grade you had you got money. That would pretty great. Kids should get payed for every good grade they have. They could decide they wanted to work harder for good grades. The reason they should get payed is it is shown that it has changed the kids that struggle in school and life and also the kids will be motivated to work harder. All you have to do is put in some time and effort and you could have money in your pocket. The first reason why students should get payed for grades is because it motivates the kids to better in school. Rebecca Ruiz wrote in The New York Times, “... and this year 70 percent of them scored high enough to qualify for college credit compared with 50 percent before.” This shows that the students would like to have that award so they worked harder and improved. Also, it says, “ 43 of his students passed the exam this year,” that is a big jump so it is showing money and rewards does motivate them. Not only does it make them motivated to do better in school, but it will motivate them to show off their good grades and rewards. Rebecca Ruiz wrote, “.. making it cool for boys with low-slung jeans who idolize rappers like Lil Wayne to take the hardest classes.” This quote shows that the kids that probably didn’t care too much about school now cares and giving a good effort. Also it mentions on how it “transforms the culture,” This meaning there are less trouble making kids and more kids who want to succeed. Not only changing the low-slung jeans kids but also the high scoring kids. It changes them because they still want that drive to succeed and now they know that hard work does pay off.
