Gang members commit a disproportionate amount of violent crimes and offenses across the country, compared to non- gang members. Involvement in gangs result in short- and long-term negative outcomes for juvenile involved in gangs, their friends and families, and the neighboring communities. Juveniles are often recruited in an effort to replace older adult gang members who are incarcerated. Due to their vulnerability and susceptibility to recruitment tactics, juveniles often succumb to these efforts at an early age. As a result, prevention efforts at a young age that utilize a comprehensive approach which involves multiple sectors and specialties working together is necessary to begin to identify risk factors for juvenile gang involvement. Multiple sectors such as justice, education, social services, public health and safety, businesses, faith-based organizations, and other youth, family, and community-serving groups are vital to reducing gang violence. Such as a mentoring relationship through student government associations, or college clubs, and offer community service credits to college students volunteering their time. Guidelines would be put in place for the protection of and evaluating subjects that take part in the program. A review board consisting of student government president, the club director and a college Dean would be established in order to endure safety and protection of all subjects.

In conclusion, there are short term and long term consequences of gang involvement. Juveniles are at a high risk when it comes to delinquency, violence, and gang violence is no exception. There are a variety of factors that lead juveniles to gang involvement and membership. We as a society owe our youths the opportunities to succeed in a positive violent free environment. Collaborating with community service organizations, churches, schools and law enforcement agencies will allow juveniles the opportunity to live, play, and socialize in a positive and safe
