Why Judging People is Wrong - Salam Khalil

Introduction:
Oh my god, just look at her. Who wears their hair up like that?
Today's society judges people for how they look and not who they are. People take one look at someone, then label them without a second thought. Judging a person doesn’t define who they are. It defines who you are. Admit it, we all judge. Everyone’s heard the saying, “Don’t judge a book by it’s cover,” so why are people constantly judging each other then?

Everyone is different. People are judged for their looks, colour and even their personal beliefs. Judging someone for how they look isn’t something to be proud of. Everyone is different and that’s what makes everyone special in their unique way. Colour shouldn’t matter

Back in year 8, there was a girl no one spoke to just because she was a little different than everyone else. She would get upset so easily, and was constantly crying. She spent lunch alone, ignoring all the looks people shot at her. One day, she built up her courage and asked a group of girls if she could sit with them for the day. They said, “no, there isn’t any space left on the table,” when, evidently, there was. People called her weird, crazy and annoying just for being who she was. But really,if they didn’t want to accept her for who she is, their loss. Later through the year, she got seriously bullied, and it wasn’t okay. Since there was noone standing up for her, I asked her if she wanted to have lunch with me and my friends. She got so happy, I felt guilty for ignoring her in the past. To this day, I still ask myself. What’s wrong with being different?

Conclusion:
First impressions are deceiving, and aren’t always accurate. Before you judge someone get to know them first. It doesn’t matter what colour they are, how they look, what they believe in or just because they are “different” than everyone else. Said Steve Maraboli, “How would your life be different if…You stopped making negative judgmental assumptions about people you encounter? Let today be the day…You look for the good in everyone you meet and respect their

When I go to people’s house for the first time, I analyze how their house is set up. I judge and guess how their personal life must be like. I do the same for judging people. During the 19th Century If People see you with the black skin, they most likely to think that you’re worthless and don’t know how to do anything. If People see you with the white skin, then they probably think you have all the money in the world and you’re smarter than other people, just because you have light colored skin. Skin color is a color, a pigment, and everyone has a different one. I believe that people should not be judged by just looking at the color of their skin, they need to look at their skills, knowledge, and what they’re capable of…

There’s no doubt that everywhere you go, you are being judged. By the people around you, the animals, even microscopic organisms judge you (not kidding). For instance, many times I get judged by my own mom about my hair, my shoes, and the fact that I love cheeseburgers since it’s said to cause acne; although, I don’t really care for those statements about how I look, because if you really want to know someone or make good friends, you look past looks, and you judge people by personality. Wouldn’t it be nice if the whole world was like that? That is the truth, the whole truth, the unvanquished truth is how Freak would say it.…

“Never let anyone define who you are or decide who you should become” (Mbiaka). This quote by Edmond Mbiaka implies that no one can change a person for the better. It is who that person chooses to be, makes them unique. In our daily life, people put titles on others by the way they walk, dress, and communicate. This can be taught in a positive and negative way.…

“Do not judge a book by the cover”: children have been told this for centuries, so why is it that adults do not abide by their own advice? Judging, or classifying, others based off of outward characteristics has been a problem throughout the world for centuries. Over time, things have begun to equal out socially for all races in the world, but out of habit humans still stereotype one another based off of looks, skin color, or social standing. These stereotypes have been shaped over time and have become intertwined into society. Classification tends to be a general indication of a certain type of person based off of other people’s opinions; however, this does not represent the entirety of those people with similar characteristics.…

Martin Luther King Jr. once said, “I look to a day when people will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character”. This quote is saying that one shouldn’t base a person off of the colour of their skin, but should base one off of their actions. In today’s society, men, women and children experience racism in their lives either as victims themselves or being guilty of saying racist comments towards others due to differences between them. Racism is defined as: “prejudice, discrimination or antagonism directed towards someone of a different race, based on the belief that one’s race is superior.” Racism is often determined by the way we interpret and treat others.…

Flashback to civil war time, you have the north and south separated because of one thing: their view on skin color. The north viewed skin color not as an important topic, but the south couldn’t fathom have dark skinned people helping them, which caused them to separate themselves from blacks. Prejudice is a topic that people back then used to differ one human being to another human being, and in today’s world people still judge or criticize people on their beliefs, appearance, or actions. Prejudice can be as simple as if someone is a male or female, or as serious as being black or white. The question, we as people have to think to ourselves is, why we make such serious judgements on certain people, or groups without actually knowing them.…

The belief that one person is superior to another person just because they have certain physical features does not mean that one person has a supreme ranking in society. In the past, Nazis, such as Hitler, believed that the Aryan race (blonde hair and blue eyes) was set to rule the world just because lighter skin tones were viewed as superior. The truth is that there is no evidence to back up this claim. People that have this mentality, such as Hitler and other Nazis, are responsible for the suffering and deaths of over 6 million innocent Jews. In the end, we are all equal and there is no scientific evidence to prove otherwise.…

Many of these Hispanics are discriminated or assumed they are illegal immigrants that need to be deported. Many Latinos are seen as gang bangers, lazy, criminals, and Drug addicts. But they are so much more than that, and without them the U.S wouldn’t be as successful as it is today. I have always been taught to judge people based on their actions rather than their appearance, and this was a lesson that was completely reinforced by the house I lived in, in which I grew up. As kids, if any of us even remotely suggested that we were focused on someone 's looks, we were immediately punished and reminded that there is no way to know a person based on what he or she looked like, but rather it is important to know the heart inside the body. Making snap judgments based on appearance was definitely not acceptable in our household. This was difficult for kids, since young people often judge people based on first impressions, which generally involve their physical appearance. Nevertheless, as an adult, it became as clear as day to…
