An article by Pearson called “Ecology and Environment” states, “The prairie dog vacuum uses a 4-in. plastic hose to suck prairie dogs out of the ground at 483 km/h! The prairie dogs end up in a padded tank, and usually unharmed” This shows that this is inhumane because these animals are being powerfully sucked out of their whole into a padded tank but it would still hurt the little animals. Another example, how the vacuum is an inhumane way to get the prairie dogs out of the holes is, “... the 2 pound critters … get hoovered up into the waiting holding tank… the containment truck slows them down to 15 mph before exiting the pipe…” The prairie dogs are slowed down to 15 mph but even with the padded tank, it would still hurt the animals at that speed to hit something even with pads. These animals get hurt by this inhumane method of getting them out of their holes. Another reason why the vacuum is an inhumane way to move the animals is that they move the animals to their death. From an article by Pearson, states, “They are then relocated or donated to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to be fed to endangered eagles…” This shows that are relocate these animals are actually killing them for their own organization. Another example from Pearson is that, “... species … mate … produce offspring …” This shows that you should allow these animals to offspring to let their species to …show more content…
But those people don’t understand that they hurt these animals by vacuuming up at intense speeds into a padded vacuum can still kill or even injure these animals. People get money by selling these animals but they don’t care what happens to them, do they? They don’t realize that they are selling these animals to their death, and not caring about them. They also only take 2 prairie dogs to go bread in the wilderness. Have you ever wondered though where do the rest of the prairie dogs in the fields go? They might get good treatment to wherever these poor animals are going but they don’t know what to expect. This needs to be put to an end! These animals need to live their lives without being killed or hurt from these machines. We do need to find a way to safely transport them to a place that does not decrease our food supply but the way they are doing it now is
