Why Is Writing Important In Today's Workforce

Skills in today’s workforce has changed dramatically. There are many skills that people need today that they did not have to have 10-20 years ago. I firmly believe that there are two skills that anyone would need to be able to have a job and successfully be able to maintain it. I believe that reading and writing are the two most important skills to have for maintaining a job in today’s workforce. Reading and writing is essential to be able to perform tasks on a daily basis at any job.

You have to use writing to be able to fill out an application so that you can even enter the workforce. If you do not know how to write your name then how are you going to be able to fill out the rest of the application? Working for the school district I have to write emails on a daily basis. If I am not able to write and able to communicate what I need, then I can end up losing my job for not being able to communicate what my students need. Working in the food industry you have to be able to take the order from the costumer. If you cannot write the order then how is the cook going to know what they would like to eat. Almost every job you have to communicate by writing, which is why writing is another important skill that you have to have in today’s workforce.

Reading and writing is the most important skills to have in today’s workforce. If someone cannot read or write then they cannot fill out the application to even enter into the workforce. It is essential to be able to perform these skills on a daily basis. If not able to then it would be very difficult to perform the duties of your
