Why Is Wiesel's Night Significant

James Tackach critical evaluation of Night describes why Wiesel’s Night is significant. He first gives the point, “Eliezer’s narrative can also be viewed as the story of all European Jews who suffered during the reign of Adolf Hitler” (Tackach 1). There are not many narratives of holocaust survivors with the amount of detail Wiesel provides. Wiesel provides a great amount of detail of his time during the concentration camps, which is why it can be viewed as a story for Jews who suffered during the Holocaust. In addition, he describes why also Night is significant because, “With Night, Wiesel became a spokesperson for all those who suffered during Hitler’s reign” (Tackach 1).
