Why Is Welfare A Good Thing For People

Welfare Essay I believe that Welfare is a good thing for people because it gives money, food stamps and healthcare to needy families. Welfare also helps with income tax and housing assistance. I also believe that Social Security is a great program because it helps blind, disabled, and elderly people get money to pay for food, clothes, and a place to live. I will be discussing why I believe these are great programs to have in a country. I will also talk about why Minimum Wage is a great thing to have. The reason why I think welfare is good to have is because it helps needy families. What welfare does it it provides temporary assistance to needy families by having the government send money to families. The money is given so a family that has little to no money can be assisted in being able to purchase things necessary to survival. Welfare also helps with people who can not pay income tax by exempting them for it for some time. One downside is that you need to qualify for welfare in order to get it and you can not spend the money wherever you want.. As stated in document 9, “The law requires that able-bodied adults work at least 20 hours a week or go through a job training program in order to qualify for welfare. According to document 2 “A new law set up Social Security, which gave workers and families money when they became too old or too sick to work”. This is a great program because if someone is sick or too old, how are they supposed to make money and be able to survive? Social Security solves that problem by sending someone money monthly to be able to buy food, clothes, and pay for their home. “Without Social Security, the rate of poverty among all Americans would have been nine percentage points higher”. as stated in document
