It is very strange how the words vampires and humans have been used in the same sentence for centuries. From the stories of Count Dracula and his three wives, to the Twilight Saga, vampire stories have become famous and like a drug for fans. The story of Vladimir Tod, the teenage vampire, by Heather Brewer is no exception to this. The writer tried to make this book interesting to boys and girls and therefore chose a simple colour scheme, and a simply designed cover to introduce her creation, the character of Master Vladimir tod. In this essay I will be analysing the character of Vladimir Tod and his life among the humans.
Vladimir Tod is a funny and easygoing teenager. He is very polite and has a lot of respect for humans despite him being a vampire and all. He can also handle and control his hunger when he is around humans. It shows that he is not a selfish and controlling person. He is a very loyal and trustworthy friend and makes sure that the safety and happiness of his friends comes before his own needs and wants. The fact that as he grew up, the pain and the loss that he suffered did not turn him into an evil, revenge seeking person, shows his strength and tolerance to the people around him. Normally vampires are described as being evil, murderous creatures, who don’t see reason and cannot be trusted and are found with loads of blood splattered dead bodies around them. Therefore it is a bit strange that through through this book, people see them in a different light and are not just stuck on the idea of how demonic and barbaric they are.
