“Remember, remember the 5th of November. The gunfire, treason, and plot. I know of no reason the why the Gunpowder Treason should ever by forgot.” That is the opening sentence for V for Vendetta. V for Vendetta is a movie about a guy in a Guy Fawkes mask, “V”, in an alternate future where Germany won WWII and Great Britain is now a fascist state, while “V” uses hit and run tactics against the British government he ends up crossing paths and rescuing a woman from police, he makes her his ally that he can continue his mission to free the people of Britain of their government. That and if the government does something wrong the people are always sharing their opinion, It makes someone feel like they could hold the power, that they feel special and important being able to hold that fear or freedom. The audience is more toward the people that can vote, vote for who’s in government, vote for things to happen and vote for things that don’t happen. The movie also holds a form of controversy. When the movie first came out there was talk that the movie was promoting terrorism. There’s a part at the end of the movie where the subway station one of the trains is filled with bombs and explosives, well a few days before the original release date was pushed back, there was an attack at the actual subway station where a bomb went off. Might think that the it’s silly that it’s supposed to promote terrorism, but it could also be terrorism that attacks against the government, but it was generally peaceful attacks, that didn’t harm anyone. “V” only harmed the people that harmed him, his attacks were nonviolent until the police wanted to kill him so “V” killed them.
