I dislike the reasons the members of the Wichita Falls Church banned two books named “Heather Has Two Mommies” and “Daddy's Roommate”. Their reasons for banning the books are because “they objected to the book's' descriptions of homosexuality”. To Kill a Mockingbird is typically banned or challenged “in many classrooms and public libraries around the country and the world today.” As early as 17 years after the release of To Kill a Mockingbird, people started to challenge and ban the book because of “racial slurs” and “profanity” Ex: ” Challenged at Normal Community High School (Ill.) for racial slurs and content.” and “Challenged by a Glynn County School Board (Ga.) member because of profanity.” The book's setting is in the south during 1930 so i knew it would probably contain racial slurs and some profanity but i've never read the book and so i don't know if i would find it amusing but i have heard more praising comments about the book than bad, and plus it's considered “classical literature”. Harper Lee was born on April 28, 1926, in Monroeville, Alabama. Harper Lee used to be a Tomboy when she was younger, “ she grew up as a tomboy in a small town.” This is most likely because her mother rarely left the house because of a mental disorder “It is believed that she may have had bipolar disorder” and her mother was unable to show Lee everything other little girls her age were doing (dressing up, playing with dolls,etc.).
