However, it is also one of the most frequently banned and censored titles in schools across the country. It is banned for its use of sexism, race, and rape. Although the book has ideas, that some may deem inappropriate, it is essential that a middle school student, as well as anyone else, reads it. For it shows what the world was like a century ago, and it exposes young reader, to the real world.
