Why Is The Second Amendment Important

The Second Amendment states that the government cannot take away your firearms because you have the right to own them and the government cannot take that right away from you. The Second Amendment gives citizens the right to have firearms for any appropriate purpose. You can use firearms for self-protection, recreation, competition, hunting, or collecting. Most Americans believe that the Second Amendment protects their individual rights. There are many reasons that our Founding Fathers wrote the Second Amendment. The three most important reasons are directed towards the citizens. One reason is for the safety against criminal elements. If you have a firearm to protect you, you won’t be scared for your safety. If you have a firearm you will be protected from someone trying to harm you. Another reason to have the Second Amendment is for national security. The Founding Fathers did not trust the armies that were armed all the time. The last reason that the Second Amendment was added was because firearms are an insurance policy against our own government.
