Why Is The Honor Code Important

The Honor Code Every person is taught certain values. With every family there is a different way of thinking and responding. The meaning of moral is the knowing between right and wrong; something that is taught from a young age. As time passes by there is a change in every person’s moral values either for better or worst. That transition in values affects students academically. Schools should establish an honor code to enforce discipline, promote moral values, and knowledge of responsibilities. To begin with every person has a different level of education and with that education there is discipline. In schools there has to be discipline coming from the students to the teachers, but I has to be enforced by the parents. The idea of having an honor code in school would come to show which students really have discipline to do the right thing. This is where the honors code would fall into place if they sign the honor code then they are aware of the rules which they must follow. If they disobey the rules they will come to know the consequences. Majority of the time students are afraid of being convicted of cheating for they will receive a punishment, from suspension to expulsion (source C). …show more content…
If it is okay for them to cheat, then they have little to no integrity. It will usually come down to each student to decide whether or not to cheat (source C). With each student there has to be a certain type of trust for there are “too many to watch closely” (source D), so they put the honor code for it to be obeyed. Following the honor code also alternates depending to their surroundings. If a student enters a school with a majority of honest students they will more likely choose not to cheat even if it is in their nature (source C). Every custom is always picked up by the people they surround themselves with. In many cases a person will not cheat to save themselves from being embarrassed (source
