The Death Penalty is an undesirable last-resort punishment in our society. The constitution, Semon Frank Thompson, and Ernie Chambers All have similar evidence supporting these reasons. The Death Penalty is wrong because it causes moral, and constitutional and irreversible mistakes in society. The Death Penalty goes against the eighth amendment of the Constitution. The Constitution states,” Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted. ” The Death Penalty is a cruel punishment as it takes the life of the victim, therefore this goes against the constitution stating that no cruel or unusual punishment should be given. Although some believe that it violates the 8th amendment that forbids any cruel and unusual punishment, but the only crimes that are punishable by death are espionage, terrorism, treason, large scale drug trafficking, federal murder, or attempt to kill a witness, juror, or anyone affiliated with the trial. The 8th amendment was originally used to prevent judges from making bails based of biased decisions and opinions. It also prevented cruel and unusual punishment from being placed for crimes that aren 't as harsh as they might be punished for. Since it is not clear on what it means by “cruel and unusual,” the dismissal of the death penalty cannot be justified by the 8th Amendment without a more clear, concise definition. Some of the amendments might be a little out dated and aren 't put to use in modern times.…

Although the Death Penalty is cost effective and could save the lives of innocents, the Death Penalty actually goes against the First Amendment, in many instances has executed the wrong person, and goes against many religious and moral views; and additionally is becoming a problem in our own state as the penalty is being rushed in order to make sure the necessary drug does not expire. One of the most controversial arguments is the Eighth Amendment vs. Lethal Injection argument. While lethal injection is proposed as a quick, efficient, and painless way to end the life of those convicted, this is not the case. In conclusion, death penalty should be abolished as it takes too much money, executes innocent lives, and does not give a chance to the criminals to reform. The death penalty is also inhumane as one is killing another individual. By killing the criminal, there is no difference between the criminal and the government, as both of them are taking life of individuals. Instead of killing people, the criminals should be sentenced for life in prison and should bear the consequences of their…

The death penalty is unfitting for the American justice system because of its lack of accuracy and lack of mercy. There are so many ways people are treated with privilege or discrimination based on their abilities, culture, gender or gender expression, mental stability, intelligence, race, religion, sexuality, wealth, where they live, etc. Human beings, as well as trials, are imperfect - even without these prejudices. Mistakes can be made, and often misrepresentation in court can lead to an innocent person on death row. For not being one hundred percent certain of innocence or guilt, it’s not up to humans to decide on a terminal punishment such as death.…

‘Killing people is wrong’, a statement everyone can stand behind, however, in some arguments, would depend on who did the killing (Koch 483). The death penalty has been under the watchful eye of the United States population for some time now, and has developed an audience on both sides of the argument. Many believe the death penalty is morally wrong, alluding to scriptures from the Bible. Others would argue the death penalty is a way of justice for the murderers and ultimately for the victims. The light shed from opposing views could help reach a resolve and put the issue at rest, however, in the meantime, one must pull from both sides to decide for themselves.…

The death penalty is mainly used in criminal cases when a criminal kills multiple people, he or she is a fugitive of the law, or when someone else has over sixty offenses. There are restrictions on who the penalty can be used against and the reason, for the penalty being put on a person. It is known that there are exceptions to all the rules and for this reason the death penalty should not be allowed in the United States. Imagine being a grieving mother whose child made a mistake because no one saw the warning signs, and no one got him help. It is realized that what they did was wrong but no matter how bad the crime committed was, you cannot force yourself to love your family any less and seeing someone you love punished by death is hard for…

The death penalty gives the power to deprive the life from people and should not be enforced in our legal system. This sentence on humans that are convicted of a crime goes against the constitution that this country holds as the ultimate law of the land. As stated by William J. Brennan, JD, “Death is today a cruel and unusual punishment prohibited by the Clause... I would set aside the death sentences imposed... as violative of the Eighth and Fourteenth Amendments." (1976).…

Karissa Hoeppner The Death Penalty When the life of an innocent human being is taken away in the blink of an eye, the guilty party is usually sent to prison for life. As ridiculous as that sounds, it is what normally happens. This is not the best form of punishment in America but the kindest. Although it is cheaper to hold a criminal in prison for life, it hardly has any effect other than keeping the prisoner in a place where necessities are provided.…

Capital punishment is clearly both immoral and hypocritical and should be abolished by all existing governments around the world. The death penalty has no effect on the convicted, an individual can be proven innocent after the execution, but his or her life cannot be revived, and it is an unnecessary burden to taxpayers. The death penalty is not only immoral and hypocritical, but it is also clearly ineffective. Two wrongs don’t make a right. The government-enforced killing an individual just because he or she committed a crime is not moral, nor is it effective.…
