In the short story “ The Cask of Amontillado”, by Edgar Allan Poe, the main character wanted revenge. He wanted revenge upon Fortunato. So he plans to lure him in because Fortunato is suppose to know all there is about wine. When in reality he is just a quack and knows absolutely nothing about wine. So the main character tells Fortunato that he has the Amontillado and to follow him to his catacombs. As they approach closer to the wine Fortunato begins to cough more and more, as time goes by, he asks Fortunato if he would like to go back to the surface. Other things could help you plead for insanity such as bipolar, bipolar I, and bipolar II. If you are bipolar you may see a serious change in mood, energy, thinking. and behavior. The mood changes of bipolar can become so bad or intense that it can hinder, which means to create difficulties with your ability to function properly. Mental impairment is a disorder characterized by the display of an intellectual defect which means that the person can not think straight. Also, the person will have problems with memory as well social and vocational effectiveness. These are all evaluated by a psychological examination ( Free dictionary). Another mental disorder would be an Antisocial personality disorder. A major symptom of antisocial personality disorder is the inability to feel empathy for others. Sociopath disorder, people who have this may be referred to as sociopaths. People who are sociopaths have a hard time with authority. They tend to get in trouble with the law. They might even be cruel to animals, they will possibly even set fire to things. Sociopaths may show extreme anger towards people with authority. Sociopaths may even be seen as con-artists(Insider Health). The insanity defense states that if the defendant pleads that they are not guilty of a crime, because he or she lacked the mental capacity to appreciate that what he or she did was wrong.
