“The Book Thief” by Markus Zusak is written very uniquely. For starters, the narrator is death. Normally in books the messages are straight forward but in this book several people can read it and each person can get something different out of it. It should continue to be taught today because it emphasizes the power of words, how to have hope in the darkest times and how to remain loyal. If your eyes could speak, what would they say? Humans often do not realize the power we have with using our words. The Book Thief represents our world today and these themes are essential in teaching people how to use their voice and stand up for one another.
Loyalty is a very important quality and is taught The Book Thief. Rudy Steiner helps Liesel steal books to read though she is illiterate. Although stealing books isn’t the right thing and Rudy is aware, he helps her overcome this obstacle and sticks by her side despite the fact that she breaks the rules. We have a President who unfortunately, doesn’t know how to use his words properly. Students and youth who are living in this time era will question many things about Trump as he or she develop. Therefore, The Book Thief is similar to how we live today. Trump and Hitler have many of the same qualities and so it’s important that this book is taught because it teaches us how to fight through adversity. The book essentially explains the way Liesel has used words to create a refuge for herself in the midst of Nazism, and Max was able to find shelter in her words as well. The way she handles and responds to Hitler's injustices is the way people today should handle our issues, with peace. There are many similar flaws from the 1930’s that are repeating in 2017. This book opens the eyes of the youth and society as a
