Why the Atomic Bomb Should have been Dropped On August 6 and August 9 of 1945, perhaps the most controversial war decision in American history took place. This decision was deciding to drop the atomic bombs in Hiroshima, Japan on the sixth and Nagasaki, Japan on the ninth. Killing thousands of individuals instantaneously with Japan’s army in a weak state, many argue that the bombings were unnecessary. Despite these arguments, the dropping of the atomic bombs was both necessary and justified because it ended the war, actually saved thousands of lives and stopped fascist Japan. Here is a brief summary of World War 2 for Japan. Japan entered Manchuria on September 18, 1931. Japan had claimed …show more content…
Establishing itself as a powerhouse was greatly important for the United States. This is because nations do not want to get into war with America since the two bombs dropped in Japan. In fact the United States has not been in an official war since World War 2. Attributing this to the success of the atomic bombs would not be farfetched. The United States use of the atomic bomb established itself as the world's only nuclear superpower. This has had long positive effects upon the entire world. There have been countless issues that the US has been involved in that have promoted peace and prevented genocide and remote murderous tyrants from their kingdoms. The skirmishes that it has been involved with were decisions made by other individuals. For example the Iraq invasion was a decision made by President George W. Bush. Even the events leading up to the invasion are evidence. A separate terrorist group known as Al Queda decimated the Twin Towers in New York City. This aggressive act was not the work of a whole country, it was an individual terrorist group. For the world in general, there has not been an atomic bomb used since World War 2. Showing the power of the bomb helped nations around the world understand its potential making them not want to endure it. All countries know that in minutes the United States could vaporize them via the use of the …show more content…
This total death count would be nothing but higher if the atomic bombs were not dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Debate will continue forever about the necessity of the bombs. People will always cling to the argument that thousands of innocent lives were lost from the explosion, (there was irrepairable psychological damage to Japan and the world)and that the Japanese Army was already defeated and the war was close to its end. But (objectively the data strongly suggests more lives were saved from the use of the atomic bombs and that the world is now globally better and safer as a result of their use.) considering the number of lives that were spared, the United States not being involved in an official war and Japan’s refusal to quit are more than enough to justify why Harry Truman’s decision just shy of 70 years ago is beyond merited.(This established the United States as the world’s supreme nuclear power and the short term loss of life with associated adverse psychological effects that had occurred with the atomic bomb use, were well worth the resultant millions of lives saved in addition to the overall preservation of our planet. President Harry Truman made the right decisions in August of 1945 that saved humanity and the whole
