Why Is Standardized Testing Effective

The debate whether standardized testing is effective or useless has become one of the greatest issues around. Standardized testing to some individuals is highly defined as a waste of time and a big threat to our children. But, in the other hand many individuals believe that these particular tests help our children advance their education and stay more focused in school. The No Child Left Behind Act became law in 2002. Among other things, it required standardized testing of students, beginning in 2003. (Watkins1) Many researches have been done to prove various amounts of ideas about this certain situation. This particular tests are given to students at the nearly end of their school year. This debate has been going on for years and still there has been no decision made. Furthermore, many people are still analyzing the pros and cons about this certain topic. Many individuals assume that standardized testing is very effective for students. The reason is that with standardized testing, the students are challenged to meet a common standard by acquiring skills and content that goes beyond the minimum requirements. (Theory3) Another reason that many individuals think that these particular test are important is that they test teachers performance. Standardized Testing can hold schools and teachers accountable. These schools and teachers become responsible for teaching the required knowledge for standardized tests.
