Why Is Social Media Good For Our Society

Many people argue this question, "Is social media is good for our society," on a daily basis. The average adult would say no due to the fact that some people take their lives away from it. Martin Baily states specific and elaborative facts on why it could benefit us. For quite a while, we have been focusing on the negatives and not the positives. If you look deeper into this statement, you would see why I think social media is in fact good for our society.

In our generation, social media is a tool that we use everyday. It helps us with everyday life whether you know it or not. In the article, " Are Social Networking Sites Good For Our Society?" there are many points to prove this claim. For example, Brendesha M. Tynes says," Online social networking sites can facilitate identity exploration, provide social cognitive skills such as perspective talking and fulfill the need for social support." This author is trying to explain the benefits to social media. Facebook itself as acquired many jobs for people who otherwise had no chance in getting one. The author also states, " as teens prepare for adult social world, online social environments provide training wheels, allowing young people to practice interaction with others in the safety of their homes." Schools are also accepting technology and even use it as tools for better education. Christine Greenhow is a educational researcher and uses technology for her studies. She quotes," What we found is that students using social networking sites are actually practicing the kinds of 21st century skills we want them to develop to be successful today." What she means is that technology can help our future in whatever career path we choose. The reason why social media ties into this subject is, because you could share creative work or ideas
