Slavery is the condition of being legally owned by someone else. Slavery started in the year 1619 , Slavery in America began when the first African slaves were brought to the Northern colonies. For example Delaware , Kentucky , Maryland etc. Slave people helped in many different types of jobs , they worked day and night and barely rested. They worked long hours in all types of weather. Some of the work they did was they planted crops , and some men were blacksmiths. The north wanted slavery to stay , but the south though it was unfair for someone to own a human being. As the constitution states “All men are created equal”. The fighting went on as the years passed , so they decided to go to WAR! Slavery finally ended in 1863. So many years of
