The Digital Parent Trap: Analysis Nowadays, there are many arguments on whether technology does more harm than good to a child of an early age, we see the same argument presented in an article by Eliana Dockterman. Throughout her article, “The Digital Parent Trap,” Eliana Dockterman uses her angle of vision that tries to persuade her audience through building an argument on the benefits of early exposure to technology to children. However, due to her lack and weakening of ethos, Dockterman was not able to effectively persuade her audience in all forms. When it comes to building an argument, one should use all appeals to make sure the argument has a credible, ethical, and an emotional impact to persuade the audience.…

Screen time for children has some pros and cons about it. I believe that very young children, like younger than 4, should not have any screen time at all. However, when kids grow up they will start to need a phone for contacting family and such. Also, in school, sometimes the internet is needed to answer a question on homework. More time online for young kids can be hurtful to their interaction with the outside world.…

Americans and people all over the world use technology in most aspects of their day to day lives, but it’s not all that beneficial. In Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451, his characters are overwhelmed by the use of technology. Electronics overpower the world and take over people’s thoughts. People don’t take time away from watching TV, listening to “seashells”, or calling others to enjoy the little things in life. Spending time on media screens as a child is a massive controversial topic. Some people might argue that these electronics slow down or distract people from the real world, I on the other hand believe this amazing technology is playing a key role in the development of our future. For example, before the days of the telephone when people needed to talk to one another about something important you would either have to find where they are to tell them in person, or write them a letter and wait weeks for your message to be delievered. Now with advanced hand held cell phones; you can call, text, or even video call to deliver an important message within seconds. That to me is a very important aspect in my life.…

Screen time addiction, or screen obsession, is a vexed subject as the majority of parents and society view it as a problem, while rest feel that it is not a huge concern. Some feel the need for people to crack down on screen addiction because they compare the U.S to countries like South Korea or China where there already is an epidemic on screen usage. Also, screen time doesn’t just cover the internet, but much more, ranging from phone usage to video games, and just about anything that allows teens to be glued to a screen. Nearly all teens in the U.S own a smartphone, which is one of the biggest enablers of screen addiction.
