Why Is Representative Democracy Better Than Fascism

Representative democracy is more effective for maintaining society than fascism because in a representative democracy the people are represented through their elected officials while in a fascist rule it is more focused on authoritarian rule where people have to be obedient to the ruler, where people don’t really get as much participation in the politics and making of the policies as a representative democracy. Also people have been historically to respond better to a democratic government where they feel like they have a voice rather than in a fascist government where the only option is to agree with what the government proposes.

Representative democracy is more beneficial for a country because of the systems that are incorporated within, for example it allows for all citizens that qualify to vote to voice their opinions and have the chance to elect a representative that they think agrees with them on the same issues. These representatives are held accountable by their constituents for anything they might do while in position where they will be limited on certain powers by a supreme law, a constitution. In this type of government there is also different branches mainly created as checks and balances to each other. Although fascism has a constitution the dictator can write whatever he/she wants. Another aspect that makes representative democracy better than fascism is that it promotes individual freedom and respects personhood. It respects that humans have free will and they can perform actions and peruse interests that don’t lend themselves to the immediate benefit of the state.
