Why is Racism still Alive?
Many people still argue, “Why does racism still exist?” There has been a lot of controversy that would open one’s eyes about the issues America face with racism. In 1964, the Civil Rights Act was passed in hopes to give minorities rights equal to whites. However, minorities were still degraded and treated unequally. Today, although minorities and whites supposedly receive equal educational rights and opportunities, some whites still view minorities, such as blacks, as being the inferior race. These acts of egotism propose the question, “Why does racism still exist?". America has made many advancements to make the world a better place. Yet, some individuals still tend to struggle with something as simple as racism. Ever since the1600’s until the present day, racism has been a major problem that we deal with as a nation. Some may overlook it as if it 's not an issue, but I do not. The reason we have a problem with racism in our country is because of ignorance. In today’s society, people have the tendency to judge others by the color of their skin and not by the content of their character. That’s why I feel like racism still exists today. It’s a dilemma that cannot be overlooked due to the fact that if people continue to act as if they fail to notice the problem, then they will steadily feed the problem.
