Punctuality. What exactly is punctuality? Why is punctuality important and why is it something absolutely necessary in the united stated marine corps. What makes punctuality such a driving force to keeping everything in our life organized and non chaotic. Punctuality is the act of being on time. So what does that mean to you? Being on time means much more than just showing up when you're supposed to. To some being on time means simply you're not the last person to make it to your destination. Being on time is something that can set the whole tone for your shop. Or your office. “In 2011, a CareerBuilder survey reported that 15 percent of American workers were late once per week” http://smallbusiness.chron.com/ so career builder reported approximately 15 percent of american were late once a week. Now that's in the civilian world. Can you imagine what would happen if we showed up late to fight for our country's freedom. It doesn't work that way. As a marine you can't show up late and you can't really call in sick when you don't feel like going to work. We have a job far more important than most american citizens. So what happens if we are late? Well depending on how late you can get various paperwork ranging from negative counselings to a njp. Now on an individual that can destroy your career just for being late. As a whole you can hinder an entire marine corps mission and make it very difficult for your fellow marine to do their jobs. Everything in the marine corps is about mission readiness. If we aren't ready to go and fight for our country then what are we even good for. The marine corps relies on the fact that we are ready to go at a moments notice other than that we really aren't needed. The army has infantry the navy has boats the air force has planes. Are we are really needed for is our overwhelming standards of being professional and our ability to be
