Psoriasis and Biology
You know how they say that big things come in small packages? That is how I think of Biology, the smallest thing like a cell can do some impressive things. Biology being the study of life gives us an endless reality of changing and learning the ways of life. Taking the smallest thing like a cell has the power to change everything. The cell’s power can be used for good or for bad. Cells have the capabilities to cure the most invasive diseases. Us humans, for instance, is such a complex organism cell growing, reproducing and then dying and starting all over again. Sometimes there are issues that cause things to go wrong. Psoriasis a skin condition is not contagious, but it does affect a person to go through social rejection and discrimination. A flawed generate in the immune system causes of rapid reproduction of skin cells in the body. People with Psoriasis make new skin cells between 2-6 days. People who suffer from severe Psoriasis and arthritis are in pain as well, again that is why the biologic medications seem to have a high success rate in autoimmune diseases. Some may think that a skin disease is not as important as a life-threatening disease, but as I learned to have this immune deficiency can be linked chronic diseases. People that don’t suffer from this skin condition find it hard to understand this embarrassing ugly skin condition. The endless questions of what is wrong with me? Why do your legs look like that? I had one person ask me if I had bed bugs. It is also very disgusting when you get into a car and you see all the skin flakes on the inside of the car.
