Decent Essays
The universe is always expanding and there are many things that can be discovered in the universe. Scientists always find new things in the universe and as always everything is very far away. One thing that close to our solar system, but still far away is the star Proxima Centauri. This star is the closest star but is 4.25 light years away from the sun. This means that the nearest thing is also the farthest thing. This paper will help answer some questions about Proxima Centauri that people may ask. The universe has many things that cannot be explained, but sometimes scientists help answer question these questions. The questions that will be answered in this paragraph the questions about the star will be answered. People ask, is Proxima Centauri smaller or larger than our sun? The answer is that Proxima Centauri is smaller than the sun, the size of proxima Centauri is 124,000 km in diameter. This shows that Proxima Centauri is smaller than the sun and the sun has a diameter of 864,575 km. …show more content…
When there is a star there is most likely planets and those planets can help sustain human life. In the Alpha Centauri system there might be a planet where humans can live. The article “World Found Around Proxima Centauri” the author wrote “Whether this planet is habitable remains a wide-open question. Technically it lies at the right distance from its star that, given the right composition and atmosphere, liquid water would be stable on its surface.” this shows that there might be a chance at have a habitable planet in the Alpha Centauri system. The next paragraph will help explain more about the

Long ago, people believed that the Earth was the center of the universe, and that all the stars, planets, and other celestial bodies orbited around it. However, as pivotal discoveries were made and new theories emerged, society gained a much more insightful understanding of the cosmos above. In the second century, an astronomer by the name of Claudius Ptolemy proposed his geocentric model of the solar system, which depicted Earth in the center of the universe and the planets and the Sun orbiting in concentric circles around it. There were problems with this model, however, and years later an astronomer named Nicolaus Copernicus proposed another model which showed the Sun at the center.…

Pluto also has craters that are scattered all over the dwarf planet. Pluto is smaller than a number of moons, Ganymede, Titan, Callisto, Io, Europa, Triton, and the Earth’s moon are all smaller than Pluto. Pluto has 66% of the diameter of the earth's moon. Another thing about pluto is that it sometimes is has an atmosphere. When Pluto's elliptical orbit takes it closer to the Sun, its surface ice thaws and forms a thin atmosphere primarily of nitrogen which slowly escapes the planet.…

For starters, the size of this host star, Trappist-1, is remarkably only one-tenth the size of the sun or just only twice the size of our planet Jupiter. Compared to our solar system, Trappist-1 only consists of three planets that orbits around it. However, the length of time these tiny planets take to orbit around Trappist-1…
