“Nothing can stay gold” (Hinton 77), Ponyboy was remembering a poem. Ponyboy was a 14 year old greaser from a short story, The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. This book has great meanings, lessons based on friendship, groups, and reality. Ponyboy Curtis is someone who teaches some of these lessons. Ponyboy is a faithful character who showed equality. In the end he cared for everyone. It didn’t matter if you were a Social or Greaser. Ponyboy was always faithful to his friends throughout the good and bad times.
