Why Is Polygamy Wrong

Decent Essays
People’s religious and other views would come into play also because there would be a debate if it were right in the eyes of God. I personally do not see it as being wrong because I think that if it isn’t me then I should be find. If they chose it then good for them and let them live how they want too. The author used very good examples and showed the good’s and the bads to both sides of the equation. One thing I felt that the author could have talked about better, was all the cost associated to polygamy because it would have been interesting to see where he is coming from better. I also feel that people do not realize all the time what they get themselves in and wouldn’t benefit from

It’s interesting how we’re all human but the way we live and what we believe in can be so different. I find the explanation of why a mosquito buzzes in a person's ear and the common polygamy amongst the community very interesting. I find it interesting that they embrace polygamy, the more wives you have the richer it shows that you are. Not to mention the women accept it that their husband may have more than one wife. After reading this book it’s opened my eyes about many things.…

It is controversial that the author of "Polygamy Now," Elizabeth Joseph, would say that there is only one lifestyle that would be fit for independent women, polygamy, having one or more husband/wife. The information she provides us in her reading can not necessarily be backed up. She is only stating how polygamy fits in with her own lifestyle. Not everyone has the same job, similar work schedules, and/or have children to take care of. It is selfish of the author to state how polygamy only fits into her lifestyle.…

It is the belief that, as said in the book, “Yes...people are meant to go through life two by two. ' Tain't natural to be lonesome.” These, among many other views expressed in the book, represent widely the worlds view of marriage in the early 1900's. Today we see a totally different, and worse off, society because our stands on right marriage have worn away. If you were to ask God Himself what He thought marriage was about, and how it should go, what do you think He would say?…

    2. Eve is a very important figure for Judaism because she is the first women that was created. The Jewish understanding of her is slightly different than the Christian understanding, in that Jews do not see Eve as the source of original sin like Christians do. The negative and most common way of viewing Eve is that she is the cause of the fall of humanity and the expulsion of her and Adam from the perfect Garden of Eden is blamed on her. Many people see her as weak because she fell for the lies of the serpent.…

Polygamy in the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints (FLDS) allegedly began in 1831 (Bennion 2011:23?). Mormon fundamentalists subscribe to the line of Mormon theology which was founded by Joseph Smith (Bennion 2011:23). It includes traditional gender role beliefs, religious communalism, and polygamy. However, many “mainstream Mormons” aspire to distance themselves from polygamy. In North America alone, polygamy is practiced by between 38,000 and 60,00 persons, despite its illegality in all 50 states and the District of Columbia (Bennion 2011:23).…

In this paper, I will argue that in “The Cohabitation Epidemic” Neil Clark Warren does not successfully support his conclusion stating that people should be alarmed by the current situations of cohabitation epidemic between couples (Vaughn 482). The author spent a myriad of time discrediting cohabitation between couples as not the right form of trial marriage, which to me is lost in the mix. The author begins his story by explaining the social changes that have taken place during the previous decades, indicating the adverse rise of “cohabitation partner couples/ households (Vaughn 481).” Therefore, all the psychologists who possess knowledge of working with both the married and single couples must get alarmed when such cohabitation cases are…

Solomon was one of the many Old Testaments characters having had more than one wife, nevertheless, the addition of a third person does not fit God’s original model of marriage. It is course true that it was a worldly custom, in patriarchal times, and in the days of the Kingdom of Israel, for kings and wealthy men to take plural wives.
