Netflix is one of the most popular companies in the world. The creator and CEO, Reed Hastings, founded the company in 1998 after he was charged with a $40 late fee for an overdue rental from Blockbusters (Lipscombe-Southwell). In the year 2000 as his company started to slowly grow, he offered Blockbuster 45% of Netflix to help the company grow and broaden their horizons, but Blockbuster turned him down. By 2005 Netflix gained 4.5 million subscribers beating any other online movie rental company and by 2010 the company had 16 million subscribers and on-demand streaming. Tim Cook took over the company in 2011 after the creator of Apple passed that August he was named the new CEO. He began working in 1998 but he almost declined the job opportunity because the future of the company

seemed bleak. He has renovated technology in the past few years as we know it. New iPhones, the Apple Watch, and other future projects to come. In 2012 he was named as one of Forbes “World’s Most Powerful People” and to an April 2012 article The New York Times Cook was named the highest paid CEO among publicly traded companies in 2012 (Website).

Playing with LEGOs brings joy to people of all ages. The CEO of LEGO is Jørgen Vig Knudstorp and completely reorganized the firm and changed its culture (Lipscombe-Southwell). Growing up he enjoyed playing with LEGO’s but had ambitions to become a teacher, after 18 months of teaching he attended University to get his master’s and Ph.D. in economics. In the year 2000 he was hired at LEGO as the director of strategic development, and by the year 2003 he was named the toy makers senior vice president.
