Neil's Friend Traits

Superior Essays
For me this is a very difficult question. Neil (the main character of the story) is a character with many different traits that each show a different side of him. For example, Neil is nice as he shows affection to those he loves, but on a rare occasion. The author showed us that Neil was a really nice young boy deep down, but on the outside he was very egoistic. If I had to choose a side though, I would chose Neil as a friend.

I have 3 reasons behind this opinion. The first reason is because Neil is very determined. As I already explained in the characteristics section, Neil is a very determined person and will do anything to reach his goal. This would benefit me as a friend because I would know that if anything happens to me, Neil would

Throughout the whole book Neil was very honest. Neil HAS to say the truth about everyone, even if it isn’t always nice. For example on page 56 Neil was talking to Larry, and he said: ‘Well, you’re not ambitious enough to be a Flambé’. This may seem rude, but at least you can know your friend is true. This means your friend isn’t hiding any secrets. You could always trust your friend to give you correct feedback, making sure you’re not living on any false information. In my opinion having an honest friend is also a very big accomplishment.

The last reason why I would want Neil as a friend is that deep down I know he’s a nice guy. Neil might act all mean and bossy, but you can really tell he cares for his friends. For example, also on page 56 Neil states the following sentence: ‘Larry wasn’t stupid - not at all’. This proves that Neil actually cares about his friends, and even if he doesn’t show it, Neil knows he really likes his friends.

There is one final reason why I would want Neil as a friend….. and that is his passion for food! I LOVE food, and having a friend who can cook is a major plus. Overall, Neil is a very nice person with some really good qualities that I think every friend should have. That’s why I would like Neil as a friend, if I was given the

To make things a little more interesting, I am going to make Neil hear the sirens outside. Neil would hear the sirens and immediately rush outside, not from the door as that’s where the police are, through the window leading straight to an alley that can go to Angel’s apartment. On Neil’s run he will think about how the police found him that quickly, and would think about how the only person who knew he had escaped was Angel. Neil would just briefly think over this possibility, as he would arrive at Angel’s apartment. Neil would confront Angel and ask him why he told the police. Angel would first act innocent, but soon would admit he committed the murders. Neil at this point will be heart-broken. Angel will explain why he did this, and the reason would be that he was jealous of Neil and his success. This would be the transition between climax and falling

Neil’s incredibly unstable development was heavily influenced by his genetics and the environment he grew up in. These practically unavoidable factors, along with some defeating losses, contribute substantially to Neil’s non-normative development. Neil’s familial environment as a child consisted of two overbearing parents, both teachers, with seemingly no understanding of who Neil was.…
