Marcia Ann Gillespie said in one of her articles, “Her success paved the way for her sister writers, seeded the ground for ESSENCE; her insights and to-the-bone honesty fueled and informed countless conversations in the magazine's pages.” Maya Angelou with her humbleness, opened doors to other women behind her, leaving a lot to learn from, and where there are endless conversations of her still. She basically worked her way up and earned much respect to the point where she was able to teach others. According to Flynn in his article, Maya Angelou earned a salary by teaching and she did not have to have an office to do so either. With all the things she did, Flynn also mention, “Was she an actress, poet, dancer, or singer?” Flynn seemed a bit confused on what Angelou really was. Fortunately, Maya Angelou was loved by her people. Her talent and personality helped her become a well known person. Even if she did not have a degree, she was still able to accomplish so much just from that. To conclude, education is important! Having a degree of some sort is always beneficial for people.
