Martin Luther King Don’t you guys think that Mr. King would be president if he was still alive? People all over the nation believe he would’ve been the best president we would have ever seen. Martin Luther King was the youngest male to win the Nobel Peace Prize. Martin Luther King was one of the biggest Civil Rights leader long ago. After His terrific heroism he was assassinated on April 4, 1968. He was shot one time at his motel in Memphis, Tennessee. If you think about it his assassination was justified because the murderer went to jail, King died as an icon, and he left a mark on black and white people for what he did. Then later fingerprints on the rifle were matched to James Earl Ray. A month later Ray was arrested at the Heathrow Airport in London, on his way to Rhodesia. The lawyer convinced Ray to plead guilty so he can avoid the death penalty. He was sentenced to 99 years. A few days later Ray brought up some type of conspiracy and requested a new trial. He wrote 2 letters to the judge. The judge didn’t respond to Ray and 3 weeks later he was found dead of a heart attack with the letters under him. So Ray was the murderer behind Martin Luther King and left all the evidence behind that lead to his arrest and sentence. Although, King died, he died as a heroic man. Dr. King was the biggest Civil Rights Leader at that time. In St. Louis they have honored him by making annual holidays just for him. President Ronald Regan also signed a bill creating a federal holiday to honor King. King isn’t just an ordinary Civil Rights Leader. King was awarded numerous awards for what he has accomplished. When he was younger he was awarded 50 honorary degrees from colleges and universities. King won a Nobel Peace Prize for leading non-violent resistance to racial prejudice in
