Martin Luther King Jr. was born on January 15th 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia, United States and he died on April 4th 1968 in Memphis Tennessee. Not only black people but white people also were murdered because of those people being for everyone having the right to vote and other civil rights. In 1957 King was elected as the president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference which was a new organization for achieving civil rights. Martin had a big influence on the actions of the organisation. Martin traveled six million miles where he spoke 2500 times at public events, wrote five books and articles in only 11 years. There had been huge protests in Birmingham, Alabama who King was the leader of. These massive protests caught the attention of lots of the entire world. He got arrested continuously during the protests but King continued spreading the message further, (HistoryNet, 2017).
Martin Luther King’s most famous speech was called “I Have a Dream” which he delivered on August 28th, 1963. The speech is about how King wished that the world would stop racism and treat people not by their skin color but by their heart. King stated that all men are equal and he wishes that one day white and black people would be able to hold hands like sisters and brother. He had a huge impact on what is happening today. He raised attention to a big problem that should have been certainly solved and Martin Luther King helped achieve that. Even though not all his boycotts and protests were successful he still kept on going with his goal and he helped decrease racism significantly. Martin showed great signs of bravery and courage throughout his whole journey. Even though he was attacked by police dogs, beaten, sprayed with high pressure water hoses and threatened but he never gave up on his goal. There is an official US federal day to honor him and his actions. The day is on January 15th which is his birthday. Martin was brave to express out his opinions to the public as there was a chance he would get arrested or declined. He created a great change in our futures that we should all appreciate and respect. Martin Luther King gave up his life for us and now we are judged by our heart and not our
