Leonardo Da Vinci: Research Paper Leonardo Da Vinci was a true genius, who many claim that he was the the smartest and most talented man to ever live. Not only was he far ahead of his time, he was an artist, scientist, mathematician, engineer, architect, and inventor. Unfortunately, his inventions were only theories and were never actually built during his lifetime. Also, nobody else had ever even known about his ideas until notebooks filled with his inventions were discovered long after his death. Leonardo was born on April 15, 1452, in Vinci, Italy. He was raised by his father, (Ser Piero) and several stepmothers.

In the early 1490 's Leonardo began to dive deeper into painting, mechanics, architecture, and get a better understanding of the human anatomy. He began to draw sketches and diagrams of his new inventions but they were never actually built. If they had been though, during his lifetime, it would have been greatly significant in the history of technology. He invented the ball bearing, which doesn 't seem very impressive, but nowadays a lot of our modern day technology depends on it. He also invented the parachute, glider, aerial screw, and ornithopter, ideas which were inspired by his fascination with birds and flight. The aerial screw resembles a modern-day helicopter. Ultimately, he invented all sorts of things, such as, the machine gun, diving suit, armored tank, self-propelled cart, and a robotic knight. The self-propelled car was basically history 's first car. The drawings of this idea of a self-propelled car do not fully show the mechanics inside though. The robotic knight idea would have been the first humanoid robot if it were actually built. It really is amazing how a man could have thought of all these things in a world and time that had not even invented the pencil yet! (The “lead” pencil was invented in …show more content…
There he painted his most famous painting of all time, The Mona Lisa, (1503-1506). This painting remains to be a mystery because nobody is sure whether the painting is a potrait of the wife of Francesco del Giocondo or not. The paint is currently at the Louvre Museum in France. It is valued at $100,000,000 and is the highest value of a painting in history. Leonardo had spent his later years working on several different projects in both Florence, Rome, and parts of France. Throughout that time he still kept his notebooks, in his “mirror” writing, which was just handwriting that is reversed to resemble regular handwriting when shown in a mirror. He eventually settled in France and died on May 2, 1519, in Amboise, France. The Mona Lisa is a very detailed work of art. There is contrast in the painting for example, her skin and her hair are two different shades. The sky is lighter than her skin and hair so therefore it defines her shape more and makes her stand out. Proportion is also used. Her figure is bigger than the shapes in the background. Her clothes and hair show texture, and thicker lines are used in the foreground to make her appear closer. The value in this painting also creates a sense of depth and dimension. The work is truly beautiful and to create such a masterpiece definitely needs

This love of learning, consequently, cultivated his fascination and close studies of the human anatomy.…
