In order to understand the reasoning of the importance of the Latium towns, I will start by stating what the Latium towns were to Rome. Latium towns were the territories (cities/towns) surrounding the outskirts of Rome. To the importance to the government, the Latium towns were like guards to Rome. They warned Rome when danger was coming and was allowed to hold off attacks/attackers. I believe Latium towns in their day, was like how Hawaii was for us when Japan bombed Pearl Harbor. It is strategy if anything. The strategic importance of having people outside your biggest city that can warn you and let you know when danger is happening
