Kurt Cobain once said, ”I would rather be hated for being myself than to be liked as someone I am not!” England had many kings, some good and some not so good. King John was shockingly cruel. At one time, he captured 22 knights to be taken to Dorset and was malnourished to death. Also, he arranged the murder of his nephew. He was a perpetual liar. He lied to get his way, no matter the consequences. King John also believed that since he was King, he could get anything he wanted. Because of this, he is more commonly known as the worst king in English history.
John was born on December 24, 1166, in Oxford. His parents were Henry II and Eleanor of Aquitaine and are the youngest son of 7. (Magna Carta) In 1215, the Pope commanded that John does not need to fulfill the Magna Carta, so the Civil War breaks loose. The same year, John is forced to sign the Magna Carta in Runnymede. Although he did not want to sign the document, there was nothing else he could do. Without the Nobles and their Nights, he did not have anyone to protect him or his kingdom, so he signed. The purpose of the Magna Carta was to guarantee landowners that they would not be unfairly taxed. A year later, this causes more conflicts with the Barons, concluding them to declare war with John.
In 1216, John became violently ill. He still continues to fight in the war with the Barons. He suffered from dysentery, bloody diarrhea, but rumors say he was poisoned by a Monk of Swineshead Abbey in Lincolnshire. His intestines continued to get packed more and more.
