Similarities Between Kevin And Kilgrave

Not everyone can say they had a happy childhood. Kevin/ Kilgrave definitely falls under this category. His scientist parents performed tests on him that triggered a special mind control power in him. Kilgrave, unfortunately, decided to use his powers for his own pleasure. Kilgrave is morally responsible for his actions because he allows his id and libido control his decisions and this makes him aware of any and all particulars.
Kilgrave’s parents performed all kinds of medical tests on him including spinal column fluid extractions. His mother told Jessica that he had a degenerative brain disease that would have caused him to be brain dead by the age of twelve. His only chance of survival was a trial experiment to inject him with a virus (“AKA

He lived his life through instant gratification. Sigmund Freud would say that Kilgrave was letting his id overpower his superego. His id was in search of pleasure. Since Kilgrave was able to command anyone to fulfill any of his desires, his libido and id were satisfied (Ortolano, A Short Introduction of Psychoanalysis Written & Illustrated By A Psychiatrist). There are different forms of the libido satisfying the pleasures and desires of a person. Kilgrave has adapted to the method of being anal sadistic. This method gives pleasure through commanding orders at people and love having order (Ortolano, A Short Introduction of Psychoanalysis Written & Illustrated By A Psychiatrist). Kilgrave does nothing but command people what to do. He gets antsy when he has to wait for others and do what others want to do. By giving orders he is able to fulfill the pleasure of being in control. This is to make up for the feelings of chaos and uncontrollable situations he experienced as a child when his parents performed trial procedures and experiments on him. Kilgrave also let his lust for the protagonist, Jessica Jones, infiltrate his decisions. He confused the difference between lust and love. He believed his lust was love. In his mind, anything he did for Jessica was out of love so it was okay. His goal is to have a relationship with Jessica, “That you and I will eventually make a go of it” (AKA WWJD?). Kilgrave had Jessica under his mind control years before this encounter and in that time he orchestrated a relationship between them. Jessica tells him that he raped her mentally and physically over and over because she never wanted any of it. Kilgrave responds to this stating he hates the word rape (AKA WWJD?). The reason that he hates that word is because his superego and ego are telling him that what he did was rape. His judgments are however clouded by is overpowering id telling him
