I, like many others, are skeptical of this innovation. Turns out, 75% of drivers listed they think they are a better driver than a computer (Adams, 2015). Autonomous cars are a new concept, so of course there is some skepticism. However, many questions are left unanswered. How do insurance policies work? Would the driver or car manufacturer be at fault if the car is driving itself in the case of an accident? Then comes the issue of hacking. At a technology conference, “hackers made headlines by showing how, by sending commands from their laptop, they’d been able to make a Toyota Prius sound its horn, and brake abruptly at eighty miles an hour” (Adams, 2015).
