The main reason that comes to mind when I think of why I should be chosen to receive the TMSDC scholarship is that it is an investment. This scholarship is an investment in my future. I plan to pursue a career in medicine, a field that is in dire need of young African american males. By choosing me for this scholarship you are not only helping me achieve my dreams, but you are also helping to lower the deficit of African American males in the field of medicine. In addition to this you are also investing in someone who wants to be apart of the community and give back when I am in a position to do so.…
I would love to get this scholarship because i can use this money for books and tuition. My major is Marine Biologist but as my second major will be nursing. I would help anyone in need of medical assistants. I just like the fact of helping other people it makes me who i am someone that cares for others. I've been in a program called Project Lead the Way.…
I would highly benefit from receiving this scholarship because not only is college academically challenging, it is financially difficult as well. Upon receiving this scholarship, I will be able to continue attending school knowing that I will have money to pay for books and my tuition. This scholarship description acknowledges the same values I believe in, which are helping people in their community strive for the best. When I finish my schooling, I hope to use my criminology degree to further help people in my community with their legal issues. I have proven to myself that I can take the initiative to achieve exceptional grades and give back to my community, and I am determined to continue working hard in everything…
I believe in the importance of higher-level education. My father was the first in his family to receive a college degree. Because of his education, he was able to seize more opportunities and become successful and because of that, I am able to attend college today. Scholarship is another reason I am able to continue my education. Therefore, I highly value the significance of a scholarship.…
I feel like I am a good candidate for this scholarship because, as a senior, any and all money earned and received will help me ease the burden of attending college. My goal throughout my whole childhood was to receive a full ride scholarship to the college of my dreams; however, as time has gone on and I have matured I have come to the realization that, that dream is not as achievable as I once believed it to be. I have worked hard, inside and outside of the classroom, making the grades and creating the resume that colleges are looking for, and in response I have been offered tuition waivers. Which ultimately means I am still responsible for paying for my books, room and board, part of the tuition cost, and mandatory fees.…
Being a college student brings on a lot of expenses that I was not prepared for. Being one the first in my family to attend college, I did not have the guidance to help me transition into a college student. Until doing further research I did not realize how much help was available for financing education. Primary, I will be using this scholarship for books and any outstanding tuition that needs to be paid. Also, I will be commuting to and from school.…
Achieving the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Scholarship would benefit my family tremendously since I am planning to go to the University of St. Thomas in Houston which is a private 4-year university meaning it will costly compare to public postsecondary institutions. Additionally, the scholarship provides a 5,000 dollar four-year renewable scholarship and it will be a great financial assistance towards my tuition to strive for Bachelor’s degree. I need this scholarship to help me fund for my attendance to college. Due to my parent’s income, I will not receive a substantial amount of financial aid because their income range is not considered to be financially need based which many scholarships look for. Therefore, while searching for scholarships, when I see a scholarship requirement…
Art is a passion of mine. I love to create and bring ideas to life. Since I was a little girl, I have always wanted to do something amazing with my life, and I knew it would be something artistic. With the Bulk Scholarship, I hope to use the money to make my dreams a reality.…
Along with the activities mentioned, I have also maintained a 4.0 GPA and am the senior class treasurer. I believe the amount and diversity of activities I am involved in show that I am ready and capable to handle the world outside of high school. If I were awarded with this scholarship, I would be able to use it to further my education to keep on the track of serving others, and ultimately working to make the world a better…
Since the first day of third grade I've heard over 1,800 morning school bells, attended 45 different classes, and met 5 of my greatest friends. I am proud to say I have attended McKeel Academy for 10 years, and I'm even prouder to say I will be a graduate from McKeel. This school has shaped me in to the person I am today, a person I am truly proud of. First, the legacy I want to leave at McKeel is my sense of dedication and goal setting.…
As an undocumented immigrant one faces through many complications growing up in the United States. We start of by our parents going to the United States to pursue their “American Dream” and they bring their children along. Those children are raised to take school very serious in order to get an education and earn a degree so they could have their career set. I was raised like this because my parents want the best for me and get better opportunities than they had. At first a child does not understand where they were coming from because obviously as children we do not face many obstacles, at that time our parents faced them for us.…
I currently have a part time job and also a work study at school. With raising a kid as well as going to school it doesn’t really leave anytime for me to work many hours. My bills are higher than what I make. I have been getting help from my family when I am short on the month and they have been great to me. Getting this scholarship would cut down on my educational bills and give me the chance to pursue my goals and dreams of becoming a nurse.…
Coming from a single parent household, it hasn't been pleasant for my mom and my family. A majority of my life, my family experienced dependency on others to aid in finances for my schooling and necessities for my family, as my family was tight on money. Although my childhood and adulthood have been rough, I would not trade it for anything; it has made me better knowledgeable and aware on education and financial struggles. Receiving a scholarship will ease the burden takes place on my family, as my mom won't be buried in…
For my family, I believe money will always be our biggest adversity. Whether it is paying for rent or my school textbook, those are just issues we must deal with. This scholarship would help ease our lives a little better, but some of my challenges such as learning English to help translate for them have passed, and for that I am very grateful. I am grateful to have this opportunity to share my story, to share my own life experience, as I know there are thousands of immigrant families that have gone through the same situation I am in. My personal character has been deeply influenced by the strong people that have raised me.…
Many students typically receive merit-based scholarships for academic achievements although some can be awarded for special talents or other personal characteristics. If I could give advice to high school students, I would tell them to start searching for scholarship opportunities early instead of waiting to get to college or their senior year like I did. Before going to the need-based aid which is awarded to a student on the basis of financial need, they should always look at the merit- based aids. You are not obligated to pay the money back for merit-based aids unlike some need-based…
