Why Is It Important To Pursue A College Degree Important?

Earning a college degree has become a relevantly recent phenomenon, as it's graduates have increased by 600% since 1940. Not only has it given people more opportunities to be successful, it has given societies a chance to become greater. It has given the world a reason to be smarter, and to take care of the earth and how we use it. It is not necessary for one to have a college degree to be successful, but it will increase the chances for one to do well in life. Not only is pursuing a college education in Iowa something that I am going to pursue, it is also very efficient, given it is one of the top five states for graduation rates among college students. Bachelor’s degrees in Iowa are not one of the top few among states in the United States, but Iowa is above average. Since Iowa is in the midwest some of the bigger focus on majors is in the agriculture and environmental field. Education in the midwest might not be as important as in some places because there are many rural areas that run family farms or businesses which do not require a college degree. However in nearly all cases a college education will benefit anyone. In developing countries an education may not serve you any good, the main goal in most developing countries is to just survive. However, in many well developed countries, a college education is pursued by nearly 3/4 of the population. The cost is reasonable, because why would they make their citizens go into debt to create a better and smarter society? College is essential for some, but not necessarily needed for others.
